About Fuel Log

Fuel Log was born from a simple observation: in Switzerland, owning a car costs on average between CHF 600 and CHF 1,000 per month, yet most motorists have only a vague idea of their actual expenses. Between fuel, maintenance, insurance and taxes, costs accumulate without any real tracking.

Since 1992, David, a passionate developer based in French-speaking Switzerland, has been meticulously recording every fuel fill-up — first on paper, then in increasingly elaborate Excel spreadsheets. Over 30 years of data, consumption formulae, charts and maintenance reminders. In 2024, drawing on this unique experience, he decided to transform this habit into a proper web application, accessible to everyone.

Fuel Log was developed with a clear philosophy: to create a simple, free and privacy-respecting tool. No extortionate monthly subscription, no collection of personal data for advertising purposes, no features hidden behind a paywall. Simply an efficient digital logbook, hosted in Switzerland, for Swiss motorists.

Today, Fuel Log allows you to track your fuel fill-ups, plan your vehicle maintenance, share access with your family and even scan your pump receipts using artificial intelligence. The application is available in French, German, English and Italian to serve all of Switzerland\'s linguistic regions.

Our mission is to provide a comprehensive and intuitive tool to help motorists understand and manage the costs associated with their vehicles. We believe every driver should be able to:

• Anticipate expenses – by visualising the evolution of fuel and maintenance costs over time.
• Never forget a service – thanks to automatic reminders based on mileage and time.
• Keep a reliable history – for resale, tax returns or simply peace of mind.

Fuel Log is entirely developed and hosted in Switzerland. Our servers are managed by Infomaniak, a Swiss hosting provider based in Geneva, recognised for its ecological commitment and compliance with the strictest security standards.

The protection of your personal data is an absolute priority. Fuel Log complies with the Swiss Federal Data Protection Act (FADP) as well as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union.

What we do:

• Your data is hosted exclusively in Switzerland and never leaves the country
• We only collect data that is necessary for the application to function
• Your data is never sold, rented or shared with third parties for commercial purposes
• You can export all your data in CSV or PDF format at any time
• You can request the complete deletion of your account and data
• Passwords are hashed with secure algorithms (bcrypt)
• CSRF protection is active on all forms

Fuel Log is a project developed by DSTec, a Swiss sole proprietorship specialising in web application development. The project was born from a passion for cars and technology, with the ambition of creating useful and accessible tools for everyday life.
